Yes and No, it is true that naturally taller people tend to be more strong especially when it comes to things that involve the momentum being produced by their overall frame and size. But there are quite a lot of other factors playing a role when it comes to strength. It is difficult for taller people to look bulkier then it is for shorter people but due to their longer bones they do tend to have more area for them to pack muscle on, but this also means that they would need to get more protein and a higher amount of calories for them to gain the same proportional amount of muscle mass that shorter people have even if actually they have more muscle mass then their shorter counterparts.
Strength is often categorized as a capacity of a person to withstand a certain amount of pressure and force, and when it comes to this simplistic definition, taller people usually have the upper hand. But to say that a shorter person cannot have more strength then a taller person would be mere idiocracy. Let’s take a bit more look into this point. As it is easier for the shorter person to look more shredded and become proportional easily, they are often confused as being not able to perform as well as it is sometimes expected of them even though they seem to be physically fit, but this in no way is a controlled experiment in most cases but just a mere simplistic generalization.
It is easy for shorter people to get started with refining their already defined muscles which their taller counterparts first have to grow. The refinement and the constant tear and growth of the muscle means that the muscle would be more mature even though it is smaller and would be able to produce more strength, Whereas, though the taller counterpart’s muscle with the same amount of wear and tear won’t look as refined as their shorter counterpart, they would still have more overall muscle mass which would be a pro for them. So at this point, it would come to the overall force being produced by both of the participants.
The problem where shorter counterpart often gets beat is the momentum, taller people have longer bones and are able to produce a bigger amount of force using their frame and producing a momentum that would go on to produce a good amount of force. On the other hand, the shorter counterpart would have to rely more on the maturity and strength of the muscle rather than relying on the momentum of his / her frame. So to conclude, with nearly the same amount of wear and tear, the momentum and muscle mass would be on the taller person’s side, whereas the muscle maturity and the strength produced through with it, better coordination of the body’s parts would be on the shorter person’s side.
Co-ordination Of The Overall Body
One of the many problems that comes with being tall is that it becomes harder and harder to co-ordinate your whole body movement the taller you become, this is one of the reasons that many tall people that you see seem to often move sluggishly as they would require more amount of proportional muscle mass and refinement to co-ordinate their body better. But this is something that many tall people miss out on. So this one of the parts where shorter people have it better as they feel more full co-ordinated and in control of their body and movement
Some Sports And Height
height can play a part depending on the sport you are playing but it isn’t obviously a determining factor of how you perform. Down below is an image of the average Athlete sizes of different sports

Though there are athletes of all shapes and sizes in nearly any sport, there are certain sports that are more suited to short people and others that are a bit more suited for taller framed people. Some of the sports suited for short people are
- Gymnastics
- Surfing
- Equestrian
- Diving
- Figure Skating
Some sports suited better for taller people
- Volleybal
- Basketball
- Swimming
- Rowing
- Sprinting
This list in no way advocates for generalizing people’s categories, it just stands for certain sizes being more suitable for certain types of sports. And a fact to remember here is that there have been legendary players in all sports from a very diverse range of height
Do Taller People Have An Advantage At Sports?
This does depend quite a lot on the type of the sport being talked about, as each and every sport comes with completely different dynamics. And there is no doubt to the fact that players of very short height have outplayed players way taller than them a countless number of times. For instance, one of the greatest legends when it comes to weight lifting is Urik Vardanian who was only 5 feet 7 inches tall but managed to break numerous records, and there are hundreds of other not tall athletes as you yourself might know who have achieved amazing milestones when it comes to sports. So height isn’t obviously the only determining factor in these kinds of cases as there are many other factors playing a role too.
Sleep And Height
Height has nothing to do with the amount of sleep one should be getting. There are quite a lot of other factors that determine the amount of sleep a body needs. For instance, their overall metabolism and homeostatic functioning, but optimally, a person ought to get sleep around 7 to 8 hours a day
